CTI-Lab

teamwork

Founded in 2018 on the initiative of several researchers at the University of Ottawa (Canada), the Com&Tech Innovation Lab (CTI-Lab) is a research, experimentation, and co-creation space dedicated to understanding our interactions with digital technologies. Since its launch, CTI-Lab has been dedicated to exploring the use and design of digital health technologies, using a participatory and interdisciplinary approach. CTI-Lab is a place where innovation and collaboration are at the core of each project.

Research aXES

AXE #1 – Use and co-design of digital health technologies. Our research focuses on studying the use of mobile health applications, telemedicine and remote monitoring devices to understand their impact on care practices and to inform their design.

AXE #2 – Analysis of human-technology interactions using various qualitative methods (e.g. video ethnography, multimodal interaction analysis). The CTI Lab specializes in the analysis of interactions with embodied conversational agents, voice assistants, and social robots.

AXE #3 – Datafication of Health and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our research focuses on the datafication of health. In other words, the ways in which AI-powered algorithms transform health (but also care) into measurable and analyzable data, and reconfigure care practices, the relationship to the body, and the experience of illness. To this end, we study the use of AI-powered technologies in real-world contexts, such as work environments or living spaces.
