The DATA-SENSE project is an interdisciplinary initiative that explores the impacts of datafication of health on care, body awareness, and clinical practices. This project examines how bodies are measured, monitored, and interpreted by algorithms through the use of continuous patient monitoring (e.g., connected devices, sensors, and wearable devices) or implantable biosensors. While these technologies have the potential to pave the way for personalized care, they also create tensions between objectified bodies reduced to metrics and the lived experiences of illness. The objective of this project is to encourage debate regarding the datafication of health by examining the boundaries between technology, bodily experience, and care practices.
